Andy Warhol, best known as a painter and socialite, was also a brilliant and deeply influential filmmaker. His films often documented the “Warhol superstars,” a coterie of talky, tawdry-but-glamorous narcissists with extraordinary screen presence. Through his lifestyle and personality, Warhol indirectly anticipated many things about our present day. The rise of the non-celebrity celebrity (like his superstars). The platform of reality television. And YouTube, the publisher of personal “TV channels”.
